I’ve seen this before. The media is hyping the “crash” of the economies of the world. What’s the truth?

No one can say for sure but here is what I know from experience.

The media makes their money by selling advertising. Their success is dependent on eye and ear minutes. The more time you read, watch and listen to the news, the more value their advertisements have and the more money they make.

Fear sells. The more fear the media can generate, the more people tune in and the more advertising they can sell. It’s that simple. Did you know the highest value advertising segments are the weather? This is because they can create fear about storms. They always finish each report by saying, “Stay tuned for developments on this….” whatever the looming end of the world may be. With new technology, they can predict storms up to a week in advance, and they do. Don’t let them create fear. Fear will limit your creativity, health and wealth.

Now what’s happening in the economy is a big storm. It may be disruptive and difficult but it will pass. It may take months or years to pass but you have to stay focused on the fundamentals. And don’t let the media hook you in with fear. It is addictive.

Reality Check

People still need to live. This requires activity to support life. Activities to support life require people to do work. So even though the measurement of work/resources (known as money) is going through a fluctuation, the reality is that there is still work to be done. It’s just the measurement of the work that is changing.

Don’t confuse the measurement tool with the thing being measured. You can change the size of what you call an inch so that something that was once 6 inches is now 12 inches in length. But does the object actually get bigger? Of course not. It is still just as big as before. That’s what’s happening with money with this nuance; Everyone started to believe that changing the size of the measurement was actually changing the amount of the thing that was being measured.

So what’s happening now is that we are going through an adjustment. Money is being readjusted (even though the bankers and others are trying to prevent that from happening) and as it goes through the process the flow is being interrupted. So what happens if the “monetary system” comes to a halt? People will adjust. They will barter and exchange value directly instead of using money.

So what you need to do now is focus on the basics. Continue to develop valuable skills, don’t spend more than you make and take care of your health. Healthy and strong people are more creative and resilient. If you are creative and resilient, you will succeed, no matter what is happening in the world.

Stay well and clear,
