Prosperity, Taxes and You

Posted by on 05 Feb 2010 | Tagged as: Career, Money, Prosperity

This topic is somewhat different but very important to creating future prosperity.

A key part of prosperity is investing the fruits of what you have worked to manifest. This only can happen to the extent that someone is not robbing you. Unfortunately, your pocket is being picked and it is going to get worse unless something starts to change rapidly.

The following article puts this in perspective.

Wealth is leaving New Jersey, BC study shows – Daily Business Update – The Boston Globe

It’s so simple, taxes cause changes in behavior. People move, they stop giving to charities and they stop creating jobs. Unfortunately, elected officials have jumped the shark and see the world very differently than entrepreneurs. Elected officials have a vested interest in finding ways to make government bigger. That’s how they get paid. The bigger the government is, the more they get paid. So they do this by creating programs that attract people who will vote them into office and support making government bigger.

One way this is going to change is when taxes get so high and government gets so big that it crushes the free enterprise system. This will make jobs go away which will reduce the collection of taxes and will ultimately lead to the collapse of the country and the government.

Of course, the alternative is for everyone who is in business or understands business to become proactive in helping to elect people who will reduce taxes. It’s not going to be easy because the politicians who are entrenched in the system will create every crisis they can to rally those who are benefiting from the welfare state.

Be involved with creating the right environment for prosperity to thrive. If we don’t, we pass on a more difficult world to all those who follow.

Seize the Day: Use the Solstice

Posted by on 20 Dec 2009 | Tagged as: Prosperity

Solstice actually means “sun standing still” or the time when the apparent movement of the sun lower or higher in the sky does not change. But more importantly, it is a major shifting point; a point where the length of the days increase or decrease. This happens around December and June 21st every year. You can check the exact dates and times here.

The Winter Solstice is a particularly powerful time to focus your energy on what you want to manifest in your future. This is when your next cycle of birth and growth begins. It is the culmination of the inner cycle of harvest and accumulation of energy and the beginning of generating what you want to create.

It’s like the launch of a rocket when it’s on the launch pad, full of fuel and ready to ignite and rise to the heavens. What happens in the first few minutes of the launch are the most important to the success of the mission. That time is now. How you start this cycle of manifestation sets the pattern for the next 6 months as well as the results that you harvest after June 21st during the inward cycle of harvest and accumulation of energy again.

To put this to work in your life, focusing on your mission, vision and goals  at this time is very important. Focusing now is exponentially more powerful in manifesting what you want than waiting until January 1st when things are already in motion. The reason is simple: It’s easier to get on a rocket when it is standing still than after it has launched.

So do it now. Use the energy of the day to create what you want. Write it down, make a treasure map and give it as much time as you possibly can. I know that can be challenging with all of the holiday activity. But every moment that you can devote to focusing on the future you want to create will put significant energy towards the creation of a positive outcome.

Have an amazing year.

Sincerely,
Kris Stecker

p.s. Here is a powerful tip: Share your vision, mission and goals with as many people as possible to multiply the energy going towards its creation. Please post what it is you are doing as a comment to this blog so we can all see what you want to create and share your vision. Sharing it with as many friends and family as possible (on Facebook for instance) will also kick it up a notch. Your mission is greatly needed to making the world a better place. Thank you for your contribution.

Fear, Mission, Energy, Opportunity and You

Posted by on 15 Nov 2009 | Tagged as: Money, Personal Development, Polarity Therapy, Prosperity, RYSE, Spiritual Development

The greatest irony is that the people who need to read this the most are the ones who are least likely to read this blog. However, if you are creating a better life, please share this with those who you want to help.

These are truly amazing times. During the past month of meeting people at Spa Tech Open Houses and finishing off with the final ARYSE of the year, we are seeing a level of fear, creativity and manifestation, that goes far beyond anything we can remember. The causes, reactions and opportunities are extremely high. What does this mean for you and your prosperity? Everything.

To begin with, start by understanding the sources of the fear. We are overexposed to every bad thing that happens. Access to news (usually bad news because that’s what drives the industry) and the pure saturation and gory details has permeated all aspects of our lives. Most people listen to radio, watch television and get their news online, both by looking for it and having it pushed through ads and emails. The simple fear of being cut off from the news is horrifying to most people.

What is unprecedented is the range of things to be afraid of. Between the economy, terrorism, and crime, all drivers of political agendas, we are exposed on a global level to things that we would never have known about in the past. But the scope has expanded to other political issues like health, food supply and the environment. And of course, our most basic fears of inadaquacy have seen a new level of commercial exploit with emails, stories and constant advertisements that we need better bodies or body parts, have more hair, drive better cars, and have better sex, just to name a few.

With H1N1 we are afraid of going out in the world, being close to other people or of letting our children or ourselves do anything. We are taught to fear the sun, going out at night, traveling, buying food that can kill us, being laid off from our jobs and losing everything, taking out loans to make our lives better and having our identities stolen. In fact, is there any aspect of our life that is not dominated by fear? FDR said, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”  But it seems like fear is the predominant theme that most people live by.  It’s a powerful motivator and everyone from the politicians to the marketing departments know that fear is the best tool they have to control people.

Okay, so we are in a high fear environment. What does it do to us and how can we get beyond it so we are living our lives instead of the lives that others want us to live?

Fear causes multiple reactions. The ones that most people focus on are fight or flight. People become irritable, confrontational or they run away from what they are afraid of. Either reaction can be self limiting by missing opportunities, burning bridges or blowing up what’s already working. But the bigger problem is that it’s very different to fight for or run towards what you want instead of only fighting against or running away from something you are afraid of. One is based on love and creativity and the other is based on fear and avoidance. Only one leads you to connecting with your source where you manifest what you desire and need.

But the biggest reaction, which is often overlooked, is to freeze. Just like a deer in the headlights, we freeze and are afraid to take action. We can’t make decisions which leads to inaction. Our vision or perception is shut down and we can’t see opportunities. Rather than perceiving opportunities to grow, change or move forward, we only see the thing we are afraid of. And next thing we know, our hopes and dreams are road kill on the highway of life.

The other reaction that is also overlooked is fear overload or denial. This is when we lose the ability to process any more fear and go into denial that there are dangers. This leads to high risk behavior that is also self defeating. Unprotected sex, drug abuse and binge anything are all related to this pattern. People stop paying attention and shift to a high stimuli experience that blocks out most information, including important guidance and opportunities.

Again, all four of these reactions lead to limiting opportunity and potential disaster. Crisis is the normal outcome and the danger that we have been afraid of has been validated as real. This is a useful learning mechanism in our educational process which keeps us alive, but often we don’t learn the correct thing. It reinforces doing the behavior that we are most comfortable rather than seeing how that behavior created the result. Fascinating.

The reason the Open Houses and ARYSE were so interesting now is that most of the people who are attending are the people who are not hooked into limiting patterns by fear. They are the ones who see opportunity to grow, change and move towards their dreams. It is an exceptional group of people who continue to focus on where they want to be instead of what the situation is forcing them to do. Whether it’s people who have been laid off and see it as a wonderful chance to do something that is meaningful and life affirming, or people who are already in the industry and helping people navigate this time of their lives, the ones who are actively growing are changing the world. They are the example of the successful person who manifests what they want. They are focused on a more perfect life full of the people and experiences they love.

But the other really exciting thing is to see how the extreme concentration of bad news is increasing the number of people who are waking up to new concepts and opportunities. It started with a lot of people voting for Hope and Change, much of which has been disappointing. But this has also forced them to become the change that they want to see.  They are realizing that the only change that they can truly believe in is the one that happens inside themselves. And they are discovering that the only thing that is real is their connection to source and energy, not the promises that are made by advertisements and politicians. We are at the dawn of a new awakening. And as energy workers, we are in the position to do more to help more people than ever before.

So how is it that some people are able to focus on their dreams while others cannot?

First, and foremost, these people categorically have stronger and more aligned energy systems. Many of them have been focused on their energy practices for many years, whether through meditation, the work they do or how they take care of themselves with regular sessions. With ARYSE it was very clear how the people that are getting regular sessions are in the best shape energetically. Those getting Polarity sessions are stronger. But by far, the strongest group of all has been the people who are giving Polarity sessions. The focus on their mission and the energy flowing through them is amazing. Because they are radiating energy there is very limited opportunity for fear to get in. The more they are doing energy work, the stronger they are.

Second, they often have gone through a time of crisis and broken the pattern of letting fear run their lives. During whatever crisis they experienced, they had a divine moment when they decided to change what they had been doing in the past and move forward into trying a new response to adversity. In the process they discovered how to recognize their default reaction to fear and to take a more conscious path. It started with one great leap of faith that changed their lives forever. From there they were able to establish new patterns when faced with fear. They have been able to recognize the events that occur but they interpret them differently than the majority of the people. From their foundation of staying focused on their mission, they are able to follow the energy and it leads them opportunity.

The third is that they have put what they learned into practice. Whether it’s getting regular sessions or immersing themselves into doing the work, they have made it happen. They have moved fully into making it an integral part of their life. They don’t just talk about it, they actually are doing it.They have made and continue to make the commitment every day. And that makes all the difference.

So what have we learned? Basically this. The news and events are useful information. However, the fear generated by the reporting and propaganda are usually detrimental to your success. As others have shown, it is within your power to change this. By understanding how you react to fear, making the choice to succeed, defining what that means, and taking the leap of faith to move toward what you want instead of away from what you fear, you can change you life and fulfill your dreams. But to succeed you can’t just say you are going to do it. You have to commit to it every day. Only the act of focusing on your mission and actually doing what makes you clearer and more aligned can you achieve the shift to a better life.

Keep up the good work. It’s so exciting to see the great things that are happening.

Sincerely,
Kris Stecker

Prosperity and Polarity Therapy – Why Energy Matters

Posted by on 28 Sep 2009 | Tagged as: Career, Energy Nerd, Health, Money, Personal Development, Polarity Therapy, Prosperity, RYSE, Spa Tech Education, Spiritual Development, Wellness

When times are tough, it’s more important than ever to use every tool you have to succeed. This has never been truer than now. Even though an economic meltdown has been averted, the hardest is yet to come.

We are in a global economy and the rest of the world is hungry to eat your lunch. This is the stark reality. The prosperity of the past two decades has been an illusion driven by a credit bubble. That’s over and now the gloobal playing field is more level. Therefore we are all faced with a new set of challenges in manifesting what we desire.  You have to bring your “A” game to be prosperous in this environment.

The challenges are many:

  • With the exception of student federal aid, new government rules are making it harder to borrow money
  • New jobs will not be created until businesses can borrow money
  • Through taxes we will have to pay back the money the government borrowed: This will take a long time and reduce your personal income
  • An increasing population will continue to increase demand for everything, making everything more expensive
  • An expanding population increases the risk of disease and shortages in health-care
  • The health-care system will become increasingly strained and therefore more expensive
  • Every one’s stress will continue to rise making us more vulnerable to disease
  • There is no easy way out

As an optimist, I hate to bring this news. However, that’s the reality we’re facing. But here’s another reality. There are people who are going to be thriving. They are the ones with the clarity to see the opportunities that are created by the chaos. But why will they thrive while most people will flounder?

Clarity, focus and health will be their advantage. These are all things that you have a high degree of control over if you choose them.

This is so simple it seems silly to repeat it, but I know without a doubt that only a few people are smart enough to do what I’m about to recommend. You see, the solution is simple but people have too many internal barriers to giving themselves what they really want. So instead they continue to justify their suffering by blaming external conditions instead of admitting that they aren’t really committed to success.

So here is all you have to do: Find a good Polarity Therapist and get at least 2 sessions a month for the next year. That’s all. Can’t afford it? I find that is rarely true. People will spend $50 to $100 a week getting coffee, going out to dinner, getting drinks and many other things that may be fun and relaxing, but moves them no closer to prosperity. They will spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a trip that gives them temporary relief and long term bills but they won’t invest in their health and prosperity. So again, it comes down to your choice.

Let me explain why Polarity Therapy will make you successful  and maybe that will give you sufficient resolve to get regular sessions.

First, clarity: Polarity sessions clear the energetic obstalces to listening to your intuition and information from your body. This is cumulative so the more sessions you get, the clearer the signals and messages become. This is a huge advantage over people who are walking in a haze and not noticing what is going on around them.

Second, focus: As your fears and other blockages are removed, your concentration is greatly improved and you are less distracted by the noise of your emotions and body. Your improved focus allows you to act on the information you receive from your improved clarity.

Third, health: You must have good health to have the energy to maintain your focus and accomplish your dreams. Some people are strong enough to overcome health issues and still succeed. But they do this by doing the most with what they have. Everyone needs to do the same. In this coming year with H1N1 and other diseases, it’s more important to do everything you can to stay healthy. Polarity Therapy is the best I know for doing this. Again, it starts with having the clarity to hear the signals from your body about what you need to stay healthy. A clear individual is more likely to eat right, get proper rest and exercise more.

By getting regular sessions your intuition and creativity will start working at a higher level and you will have the focus and health to put this information into action. You will also be better at avoiding problems and your success will multiply. It’s at the core of all success.

So it’s up to you. If you say you want to succeed it’s time to make the commitment. Don’t put it off. Contact Spa Tech Institute to help you find a great therapist.

There are no excuses. Only missed opportunities.

Wishing you a healthy and prosperous life,
Kris

Corporate 12 Step Program

Posted by on 16 Sep 2009 | Tagged as: Career, Money, Personal Development, Polarity Therapy, Prosperity, Spiritual Development, Wellness

Hi. My Name is Kris and I used to work for large corporations.

But I’m in recovery.

This all came back the other day after interviewing a prospective student. Her story reconnected me with the deep feelings of insecurity and dependence that I associate with the large corporate environment.

Her story was compelling. She is an intelligent person with a lot to offer, but the management of the company was making her feel inferior and undermining her self-respect and self-esteem. She had been reduced to an obedient, and dis-empowered, employee who was more focused on keeping her job than in doing what she knew would help the company. The situation was draining her life force and creativity as she kept her head down, afraid to speak up or make suggestions that could lead to improvements in the company. The fear of negative reactions had stolen her strength.

As I was driving home it all came back. I remembered the managers who would take credit for other people’s contributions, blame the people who reported to them whenever something failed and played politics to make other people look bad. This behavior was more in some companies than others, but it highlights the basic dysfunction of the large corporate environment.

At the core is the shift to seeing the competition for promotion as other people in the company rather than following a mission to improve the world. Departments competed against other departments and employees and managers were always fighting to get to the top or prevent others from getting ahead of them. The large company setting created insulation between the work to be done and the results. Therefore most employees focused on “playing the game” instead of fulfilling the mission.

I didn’t function well in that environment. I pointed out ways we could improve and managers would take my ideas as their own and would prevent me from talking to people who could have made a difference. I was treated as a threat and my enthusiasm and self-esteem were ridiculed. It was painful and took me years to forget.

But I will always remember the day I left and felt like I could finally breathe again. It was like climbing out of a swamp. I was a mess from the experience but with every step I grew stronger. Eventually I was able to reconnect with my creativity. It took years of Polarity sessions to recover my confidence and self-esteem but over time it returned. And eventually the feelings of dread and fear were replaced by the daily feeling of waking up with great opportunities to grow every day.

However, I also still remember the feeling of leaving the illusion of the safety net of the large corporation. At first it was scary to not have the routine or the structure. But as I watched my friends get laid off I realized that the safety net was only an illusion. It became clear that the promises that were made and the benefits that were promoted were based on fear. The term “golden handcuffs” was very appropriate. Insecurity was fed and expanded to maintain the addiction.

The realization of the personal price paid for being addicted to the large company benefits and indoctrination is a hard to describe until you experience something different. But for those who are able to break free and experience themselves as the source of their creativity and security, freedom has a new meaning. It’s a soul freedom that is hard to imagine. But it is one of the most important freedoms we have.

And this freedom is at the core of true prosperity. Prosperity and being a slave do not go together. Prosperity thrives in a culture of freedom.

So what do you need to make the change?

  • Support from the people around you. Your friends and family are the most important part of your prosperity. Cherish the people who support you and eliminate the ones who do not.
  • Courage to change. Change can be scary. The imagination can create many negative scenarios that never come true. The maxim that most of what we worry about never happens is very true.
  • Willingness to act. The only way to change is to act. You just have to do it. Just take it a step at a time.
  • Personal responsibility is key to change. Being willing to say, “Yes, I did that,” is the first step.
  • Support from agents of change accelerates the process. Polarity Therapy is the best support I know of but exercise and other therapies and support groups are also extremely valuable.

So that’s all there is to it. The question you have to ask is this: If I do nothing to change, how is my life going to change 5 years from now. If I do nothing, what will change. The answer is almost always, nothing changes. Your life is just more of the same. The only difference is that you are more tired, frustrated, beat down and discouraged with every year that passes.

I wish you great experiences and prosperity as you take control and change your life.

Sincerely,

Kris Stecker, President
Spa Tech Institute

The Power of a Professional License

Posted by on 09 Sep 2009 | Tagged as: Prosperity

The power of having a professional license is often overlooked, even by the people who hold the license. Having a professional license is one of the most important career moves you can make. You join a very small and elite group that has privileges and advantages that unlicensed people will never enjoy.

Out of thousands of different jobs, very few of them require licenses. Retail, wait staff, office workers, laborers and even executives have no license. This is the vast majority of the population. Doctors, lawyers, nurses cosmetologonists, massage therapists and aestheticians all share the advantages of being licensed.

Licensure makes it more difficult for other people to enter the profession. This automatically increases the value of what you do. It protects what you can earn and also increases your credibility in the eyes of your clients. You have shown that you can do something that requires skill and understanding that goes beyond what the average person can do.

I can’t find data to back this up but if you notice, the majority of people who are laid off from work are mostly people who do not have licenses. Office staff, engineers, sales people, management and laborers are the majority of the people who are downsized or their jobs are exported to other countries. Professionally licensed jobs can’t be sent over seas. Things may be slower at times, but by having a license you pretty much can create whatever future you want.

How does this fit into your future prosperity? The answer is simple. An important part of prosperity is having the ability to consistently earn income at a higher rate of pay. A professional license practically guarantees security and higher pay than unlicensed work.

What’s interesting is the number of people who are in the process of training to get their professional license in cosmetology, massage, or aesthetics who do not recognize the earning power and status the license gives them. To fully understand, the best thing to do is to talk to people who have a license and see how it changed their life. You will hear many amazing stories.

The most important thing you can do to secure your future earning power is to get your professional license and never let it go.  Even if you take time out to raise children or deal with other life events, your professional license is the most powerful asset you own. Never forget this. Always keep it current and build on it over time. If you move to a new state, get your license ASAP based on reciprocity. But don’t let it lapse. It’s your ticket to creating the life you want.

Would You Invest $200 if it Returned $10,000 a Year?

Posted by on 01 Aug 2009 | Tagged as: Career, Prosperity

Or: Why you should consider taking Career Success in the Digital Age.

ROI. Return On Investment.  In terms of prosperity, that is the bottom line of every cent and every second  that you spend. What does it return? How much value do you get from the investment. How much does it contribute to your prosperity.

When do you think about it? How do you develop this awareness? At what point do you make decisions based on how it affects your prosperity?

As children we have  very little awareness of this. We have an emotional response to wanting things. In time we start to understand that there is no going back. What you choose is what you live with. This is a life long process. There is a dynamic tension between the impulse to acquire something for emotional reasons versus the control to wait to achieve a higher ROI later. This applies to money, personal energy, time and other aspects of our lives.

The first step is to understand ROI. It means that for every unit of energy you expend (time, energy/effort, currency) there is a potential return. Whether it buys you more time, energy, or currency depends on what you choose to invest in and how you go about making the investment.

But at the core is the understanding of your goals. (I’m sorry to be repetitious but it keeps coming down to knowing what you really want.) Once you know your goals, the rest is a case of learning to make your long term goals become more important than your short term emotional needs or desires.

Since this blog is primarily for the students and graduates of Spa Tech Institute who are learning to succeed, that is my predominant focus. But the resistance to acquiring the skills to succeed is universal so this applies to everyone.

What will make you succeed? Where is your highest ROI? It’s learning to do the things that will attract, acquire and retain clients who also give you additional referrals. The math on this is overwhelming. If you spend $100 of advertising for a new client and they spend $100 but never come back, then you have gotten a 1 to 1 ROI. However, if that client comes back 10 times a year you have gotten $1000 for the year, an ROI of 10 to 1. If they come to you for 10 years you get $10,000 or an ROI of 100 to 1. Now if that same client refers just one additional client a year to you, you are making $2000 in year two, $3000 in year three, etc., and that first client is now worth significantly more over 10 years.  And if each referred client refers another client, well, you get the point.

So if your highest ROI is to keep your cost per client acquisition low, and to keep your retention and referrals high, shouldn’t you be focusing on learning everything you can about how to do this? Which investment is more important, spending $200 to learn how to do a new technique or spending $200 to learn how to attract, acquire and retain more clients? Which will have a higher ROI? Which will grow your career and business faster?

I watch people make this choice every day. The majority of people will spend money on learning a new skill or technique for their trade rather than spend money on improving their marketing, retention and business building skills. Why? Lack of self-confidence.

Taking another skill development class in your trade is more emotionally satisfying and helps to make you feel more secure that you know what you are doing. This is not a bad thing. It’s critically important that you continue to build your skills so your work evolves. But the other dynamic is that most people are more comfortable learning the things that they are already skilled at rather than learning something that is outside of their comfort range.

For many people, learning about marketing is very scary. Business skills class is the single most traumatic class for the majority of students. There is nothing worse than learning to say good things about yourself. It brings up all of your stuff. Additionally, almost all marketing today hinges on learning new technologies. Even though you know attracting, acquiring and retaining clients is at the core of what you need to succeed, the fear of taking a class that is so uncomfortable is often insurmountable.

Are you suffering through a marginal level of success rather than taking the leap into doing what will give you the highest return? I’ve watched hundreds of very good stylists and therapists try for several years and not succeed because they never addressed the skills that were holding them back. They would study everything else, but never the critical communications tools and techniques that could help them thrive. The ones who acquired the skills are very successful. The others get discouraged and disappear.

So the question is, are you ready to take the risk to learn what you really need to succeed or are you going to stay in your “safe” zone  and continue to struggle? You are the only one who can make the change.

As always, I wish you the best and am doing everything I can to help you succeed.

Sincerely,
Kris

It does not assume prior computer skills or knowledge. The emphasis is on helping you get the biggest impact with the least amount of effort. It also helps you to avoid costly mistakes. Whether you work for someone or have your own business, this will probably be the most important class you will ever take.

(The class is open to business owners as well as individuals who want to master the skills to succeed in the new economy.)

As always, I look forward to your comments and questions. They are the source of new programs, articles and support for everyone who wants to create a more amazing future. Thank you for the opportunity to support you.

What Will You Do?

Posted by on 25 Jul 2009 | Tagged as: Prosperity

Change? It’s in the air. It seems that everything is shifting with incredible speed. And change is at the core of thriving. Evolve and thrive. Evolve or perish. There is no getting away from it.

So the question is, what are you doing to evolve? What are you doing to identify your next opportunity to thrive.  Let’s start with the word Thrive:

1 : to grow vigorously :
2 : to gain in wealth or possessions :
3 : to progress toward or realize a goal despite or because of circumstances

Focus on these definitions, particularly the last one. The circumstances are going to happen. Age, weather, the economy and many other things that you can’t control are going to happen. The only thing you have control over is how you respond. That’s all.

You set goals if you are paying attention and trying to thrive. If you don’t set goals you are reacting to your environment and letting it dictate who you are and what your condition is.  Why would you want to do this? Why would you want to let circumstances dictate your prosperity? What do you gain by disowning your birthright to thrive?

In my own life what I found was during the times when I wasn’t proactive in thriving, it was an issue of comfort. The discomfort of not thriving was less than the discomfort of taking the risk to change. Of course, life always seems to have a way of making it increasingly uncomfortable to resist change. Eventually it becomes so uncomfortable that you simply have to do something to break out of the pattern that is holding you back. Whether it’s ending a bad relationship, changing jobs, learning something new or letting go of a belief that no longer works, you have to take a deep breath and start the process.

We are now moving into the next cycle of change. The days are getting shorter very quickly and autumn and winter will be here before you know it. We are conditioned to prepare for change in September. The back to school catalogs and ads are in our face and our cells automatically respond by starting to prepare. We are conditioned to go into a new learning/evolving cycle every September. It pulls at us. Some people like it and others dread it.

At Spa Tech Institute we see a surge of future students contacting the schools in August. It’s like someone flicks a switch and suddenly everyone is thinking about school again. It’s like salmon swimming up stream and birds migrating. It just happens.

My question to everyone is, what are you going to do if you don’t do something to change your life? What are you going to be doing a year from now? How is your life going to be different in one year if you don’t do something now? How will your life be in five years if you don’t do anything now?

The point is, things will continue to change no matter what you do. The question is whether it will change for the better or the worse. If you do nothing to advance your knowledge and prepare to go to your next level, will you have more opportunities or less? Will you be more prosperous and in control of your life or less in control?

Of course, we know the answer. It’s in the news every day. People who have not evolved are unemployed and those who continue to evolve are working. Anywhere from 6% to over 25% of the population is unemployed. The highest rate is where people did the least amount to change. They were working in industries that didn’t evolve. They worked in jobs that didn’t evolve. And as a result, they became obsolete. Where the rates are the lowest you will also find the highest rate of change. And invariably, where the rates of unemployment are the lowest the rates of education are the highest.

So what will you do? How are you going to change and grow so you will be more prosperous and skilled this year than last? What are you going to learn that makes you more valuable in the future? What opportunities are you going to grow into so you can thrive and reach your highest potential. It’s up to you. No one can do it for you.

Learn to love change and you will succeed no matter what happens in the world.

I look forward to our journey together.

Sincerely,
Kris

Independence, Accountability and Prosperity

Happy Independence Day! This is a great day to address a vitally important concept. This post may be controversial to some and make perfect sense to others.

There is a direct link between independence, accountability and prosperity. Independence is what makes this country successful. Independence drives innovation and invention. To understand why, you need to look at what independence really is and one of the best examples is the bold step taken by the founders of this country.

What did they really demand independence from? Remember, the signers of the Declaration of Independence were all businessmen in one way or another. They were people who were committed to building a successful and prosperous venture. Even though the Declaration of Independence states many important and vital ideals and values, at the core of the issue was independence from the overbearing taxes and interference in business of the new colonies. Many of the colonists were upset that the fruit of their hard work was being taken from them to support a government that was domineering and not responsive to their needs.

It’s important to remember that the predominant reason the majority of people came to the colonies was for the opportunity to create prosperity. Europe was stratified by rules, government and a class system that made it almost impossible for people to create a prosperous future. Their opportunities were so limited that they risked a very dangerous and uncomfortable ocean passage that ended with landing in a wild and untamed location where life was tentative and there were many hazards. Many died of illness and exhaustion. But they were committed to prosperity. This theme is at the heart of the pioneer life. In fact the word “pioneer” means to establish oneself in a previously barren area (which could be a place or an area of thinking).

In this hostile and dangerous environment innovation was stimulated to the point where the colonies went from survival to early prosperity. When that happened, the English government saw the opportunity to impose taxes and other measures that would redistribute the wealth back to England. At the same time the government was out of step with the needs of the colonists. The government kept imposing more restrictions on trade, freedom of expression and many other things that were at the heart of creating prosperity.

When the colonists asserted their independence from big government, it was extremely dangerous but also very stimulating. It was a huge risk that could have crushed our budding prosperity. But more importantly, after independence was achieved, the United States of America was set up to prosper by restricting the central government and leaving the power in the hands of the people. This is changing very rapidly.

Which brings me to the point, at last, of the relationship of independence, accountability and prosperity. If you look at the rest of the world you will see that with rare exception, the most independent countries are the ones with the highest prosperity. The ones that are heavily controlled or regulated by the government have much lower prosperity. The reason is simple: Innovation flees regulation. And innovation must be present to create prosperity.

But why does there seem to be a constant drive towards creating more regulations? Why do governments grow and take over? There are many reasons but probably the biggest is that independence requires a high level of personal accountability in order to succeed. Accountability is uncomfortable unless people are willing to be responsible for their actions. Most people don’t like to be held accountable or take responsibility. It’s much easier to make others accountable. It’s psychologically safer to have others be responsible. That way if something fails, it’s, “Not your fault.”

And therein lies the problem. In order to be prosperous, you have to be comfortable with failing. You have to be responsible for all of your actions. You have to be willing to take risks that don’t always succeed. And you have to be accountable to yourself for your success and your failure.

We are at a historical moment in our destiny. 52% of the voters have signaled that they want the government to be responsible for our prosperity. And the government has taken that permission to create more regulations and redistribution of wealth. Which means that if you want to be prosperous, you will have to work even harder to break free from this mindset and move into a deeply independent consciousness. But not only will you have to break from the mass mind and be independent, but you will have to lead everyone around you to a higher level of accountability and responsibility.

One of the important concepts taught at Spa Tech is that blaming others will never make you successful. The only route to success is to take responsibility and maintain the mindset of a pioneer. Allow your mind to be independent from the group think and look for areas that are barren where you can create something new. And practice accountability every day. The more you own the outcomes of your actions, the more prosperous you will become.

In Prosperity,
Kris
